Milk production

This chapter deals with the characteristics of milk production in the goat. Some of the factors that affect milk yield are body size and weight, age, udder size and shape, growth, season of kidding, nutrition and temperature. Milk composition (colostrum, energy content) and relations between milk constituents are discussed. Also information on length of lactation and lactation curve, level and efficiency of milk production and record's keeping is given. Economics of milk production in Switzerland and France are presented
