Métodos de inoculación para la producción in vivo de Bacillus popilliae en larvas de Phyllophaga menetriesi

A laboratory experiment was carried out to compare three inoculation methods of spore suspensions of two Bacillus popilliae strains. Third instar Phyllophaga menetriesi larvae were inoculated with a dosel of 2.5x10 exponente 6 Bp spores/larva by injection, topical application and fed with inoculated artificial diet. The highest infection was obtained in the injected treatment with the strain 524 (67 percent), follow by the strain 504 in the artificial diet treatment with 50 percent infection. A high percentage of asymptomatic mortality was observed with the strain 504 when topically inoculated.
