The environmental impact of economic incentives for agricultural production: a comparative law study

This study pays attention to the environmental impact of the legal measures for the economic promotion of agricultural production. To what extent can the financial or fiscal incentives that are directed towards increased agricultural production harm or enhance the environment? The study reviews some legislative and regulatory texts that provide economic incentives for agricultural production. The overriding legal trends in this area are discerned and the attitudes of the national legislators are identified. At the same time an evaluation is made of legislation's capacity, or inaptitude, to flavour agricultural development whilst at the same time respecting the environment
