Comportamiento de pruebas serológicas en el diagnóstico de la brucelosis bovina en el Uruguay
The authores carried out Rose Bengal (R.B.) test and Serum Aglutination Plate (S.A.P.) test on 20.665 bovine serum samples. The R.B. test showed 5.52 % positive reactors; the S.A.P. disclosed 0.84 % positive and 5.52 % suspicious reactors. The Complement Fixation (C.F.), Mercaptoaethanol (M.E.) and Serum Aglutination Tube (S.A.T.) tests were carried out on 1697 selected sera. Only 0.42 % 01 R.B. negative sera were positive to the (C. F.) test of the R.B. positive será 16.5 % were positive to the C.F. test and 23.5 % to the M.E. test. The S.A.P. and S.A.T. test showed the same behavior when they were compared with the C.F. test. However the results were dissapointing when we compared sera with titers to one test or both. An agreement of 83 % between sera with C.F. titer or 1/40 and positive sera to M.E. test was found. Sera without C.F. titer and negative será to M.E. test also agree in 97 %. A wider relationship was lound at 1/10 and 1/20 C.F. titers. The results are discussed and the authors suggest a diagnostic procedure and propose lines of investigation for Bovine Brucellosis in Uruguay.
