Presence of Califorid Diptera species causing cutaneous myiasis in Uruguay: Survey of parasitic larvae (instar III) in ruminants
A determination work was carried out of the presence of species of Califoridae diptera responsible of skin myasis in Uruguay. The work included studies of diagnosis of larvae deriving from natural myasis. It was confirmed that Cochliomya hominivorax is the most important agent of skin myasis in Uruguay. Also determined and evaluated was the presence of Cochliomyia macenaria larvae, of frequent occurrence as agents of secondary myasis. A description is provided of a case of Chrysomyia albiceps as an agent of skin myasis possibly likewise secondary in ovines.
