Defectos específicos en toros: Descripción de un caso de espermatozoides decapitados

The description and ultrastructure of a specific primary sperm defect of decapited sperm in a Hereford bull is performed. The semen evaluation showed jult a sustained high percentage of loose heads (between, 49-64%) coexisting with an acceptable semen motility, caused by the active motility of loose tails. The optical analysis revealed an oblique implantation of the tails in the Implantation groove. The ultrastructure showed that the defect involves just the size and shape of the segmented columns, the implantation plates and the implantation groove. The case is described and compared with those in the literature and it is concluded the necessity of careful sperm analysis in breeding bulls.
