DIVERSITY OF AQUATIC HYPHOMYCETES ASSOCIATED WITH SUBMERGED LEAF LITTER IN MANGROVES ON THE PACIFIC COAST OF CHIRIQUÍ, PANAMÁ

In Panama, it is important to reinforce the development of studies in the field of environmental sciences and natural resources, mainly aquatic, given the richness of biodiversity that the country possesses. The objective of this research was to determine and analyze the diversity of the genera of existing aquatic hyphomycetes, associated with the submerged litter at four sampling points in the mangrove swamps of the Gulf of Chiriquí. Data were assessed with the Shannon-Wienner index. The proportion of observed diversity was measured with the Pielou evenness index. Using the Margalef index or specific richness (S) the total diversity of observed species was obtained. The number of species of aquatic hyphomycetes found in the four sampling points are contained in 38 genera of which 44 species are new species for Panama in the province of Chiriquí.
