Inclusion of Gleditsia triacanthos pods in the diet of lactation goats: Its effect on intake, milk yield and chemical composition of milk

The objective of the following work was to evaluate the effect of the incorporation of Gleditsia triacanthos on the total consumption of DM, its fractions and the production and chemical composition of milk in lactating goats. 16 goats were used in an experimental period of 12 weeks: 2 for adaptation and 10 for testing. Two treatments were assigned: (T 0 ) alfalfa hay (HA) (200 g / day / animal), corn grain (GME) (500 g / day / animal) and (T 1 ) natural grassland hay (HPN) (100 g / day / animal), GME (400 g / day / animal) and black acacia fruit (FAN) (200 g / day / animal). The individual consumption in the field, that of GME and HA (T 0 ), FAN + GME and HPN (T 1 ) was determined. The consumption of fiber, crude protein (CP) and metabolizable energy (CTEM) were estimated, expressed g/kg of BW 0.75 . Body condition (CC), individual milk production (PL) and the chemical composition of the milk were determined. The GME was consumed in its entirety in both diets and in T 1 the intake of FAN was160 g / animal / day. Total consumption, natural grassland, CP and ME did not show differences (p> 0.05) between treatments. NDF consumption was higher (p<0.05) for T 1 . The T 1 goats verified lower CC (p<0.05). The CTEM and CC (p = 0.008) corroborated a moderately strong relationship (0.658). The PL did not differ (p> 0.05) between treatments. Butyrous fat (p = 0.094), CP and lactose (p <0.05) were higher in T 1 than in T 0 . The inclusion of the fruit of Gleditsia triacanthos in lactating goats improved the percentage of protein and lactose in relation to the control diet.
