Effects of gibberellic acid on growth of rootstocks for citrus

In order to study the effects of gibberellic acid (GA3) on the growth of citrus rootstocks and the possibility of shortening the period of time for plant formation on nursery, four - month – old seedlings were sprayed with 0.50, 100, 150 and 200 ppm of GA3 solutions. Plant height increased significantly with the treatments which was positively correlated with GA3 level. The increases in plant height were 8, 37, 59 and 63%, respectively for 50, 100, 150 and 200 ppm. Stem girth was not affected by the different treatments. The higher concentrations (150 and 200 ppm) showed a tendency to promote dieback of the apex of the plants.
