Phenological and yield behavior of peach cultivars in Lapa municipality, state of Paraná, Brazil
The objective of this work was to evaluate phenology and yield of peach cultivars in Lapa municipality, state of Paraná, Brazil. Eleven cultivars were evaluated in the 2008/2009, 2009/2010 and 2010/2011 harvest seasons: Aurora‑1, Chimarrita, Chiripá, Coral, Eldorado, BRS Granada, BRS Leonense, Maciel, Marli, Premier, and BRS Vanguarda. A randomized complete block design was used, with 11 treatments (cultivars) and three replicates. Lower temperatures and rain during the flowering period delayed harvest in almost one month, in cultivars with earlier cycles. Mean fruit set was higher and more constant in the cultivar Chimarrita (81%). Yield efficiency reduced throughout the harvests in all cultivars, being this reduction higher in BRS Leonense and Chiripá (above 90%) and lower in Chimarrita (61%). The cultivar Premier had the shortest cycle (105 days), and Maciel the longest one (145 days). The cultivars Chimarrita, BRS Vanguarda, Eldorado, Maciel, and Marli are the most productive. The cultivar Chiripá is not adapted to the region.
