Birds of the sector the Cave of the National Park Munchique, Colombia

This study provides information on the community of birds that live in the La Cueva in the PNN Munchique, municipality of El Tambo, Cauca. An assessment is made of the community and a comparison of the diversity and composition of the birds in the monitoring made during 2015, 2016 and 2017 in the study area. Through captures and observations, we register 186 species belonging to 40 families and 16 orders. The diversity of bird species according to the Shannon- Wiener index was 4.7 units. The year that presented the major richness and diversity was 2015, but this result is highly influenced by the sampling effort. La Cueva can be considered as an area rich in bird species and is characterized by presenting species of the Selva Subandina of the Pacifica Caucana region, mainly those typical of forest habitats as species of the family Trochilidae, Thraupidae and Furnariidae.
