Ruiz, Ana I.; Mercado, M. I.; Guantay, M. E. y Ponessa, G. I. “Leaf morpho-anatomy and foliar achitecture of Schinus areira (Anacardiaceae)”. 2009. Lilloa 46 (1-2). The architecture and leaf morpho-anatomy of a S. areira L. population from El Cadillal (Tucumán) is studied. The medial leaflet was processed. The material was fixed in FAA and conventional histological techniques were used. S. areira presents compound, sub-coriaceous, alternate, impari-pinnate or pari-pinnate leaves with subcylindrical rachis. Leaflets presents linear-lanceolate blade, acute curved apex, asymmetrical cordate base, serrate-smooth margin. Camptodrome-cladodrome-pinnate venation. Isolateral mesophyll, amphi-stomatic epidermis with thin and smooth cuticle. Cyclocitic stomatal apparatus. Glandular trichomes. Abaxial and adaxial hypodermis continuous or not. Crystal and tannic idioblasts. Schizo-lysigenous resin secretory ducts associated with the phloem. Petiole, circular at its distal end to subcircular at its proximal end, presents uniseriate epidermis and hypodermis; palisade clorenchyma; vascular system formed by collateral bundles arranged into U form, with secretory ducts and fiber caps associated with the phloem. Parenchymatous pith.
