Estudio de la morfología polínica en especies de Berberis (Berberidaceae) del noroeste de Argentina

García, María E.; Nora J. F. Reyes; María L. Espeche; Eva Bulacio; Hugo Ayarde. 2016. “Study of pollen morphology in species of Berberis (Berberidaceae) of north- western Argentina”. Lilloa 53 (1). The pollen morphology of five species that inhabit the mountains of Calilegua (Jujuy, Argentina) were analyzed: B. argentinensis Hosseus, B. calile- hua Ayarde & Bulacio, B. commutata Eichler, B. jobii Orsi and B. lilloana Job. Samples ob- tained from fresh material were processed by conventional techniques of acetolysis and nat- ural pollen. Pictures were taken with OM (optical microscope) and SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope). Grains are asymmetrical, large (42 to 54 ?m) and spiraperturate, irregular colpi edges, in some species colpi divide the surface into more or less circular or polygonal plates. Based on these differences can be considered three groups: 1) B. argentinensis and B. jobii predominantly spiraperturate grains, psilate, sparcely perforate fosulate. 2) B. com- mutata the two types of opening were manifest, but those with polygonal plates were prevail- ing 3) B. lilloana and B. calilehua grains which show polygonal plates and the surface is slight- ly rugulate, densely perforated fosulate were highlighted.
