A multifaceted etymology of leadership

From a multifaceted etymological point of view, this article refers to leadership from a conceptual vision of the different authors that support it. In this regard, a description is made of the origins of the term, leadership, to do this; as well as its nature, the area in which it operates, and the episteme of its etymology. The differences between theorists that emerge under its scientific approach and, in turn, the followers who spread it in administrative and social sciences will also be reviewed. The researcher aims to get to an understanding of the multifaceted etymology of leadership and observe the different theories of a leader's features and describe the different scenarios in which this term is used in several disciplines. The research design was directed towards a bibliographical review. Besides, the type of information collected was qualitative, taking the theoretical contributions of authors who have published books and scientific articles on the topic. A grounded theory method was used, bringing its three procedures forward: comparing, coding, and taking notes, which served to construct a categorization and codification of a hermeneutical unit. The results and conclusions of this research provided information on how to discern the epistemological bases of leadership, finding the existence of a variety of multifaceted etymologies, which differentiated the binding categories of each of the authors, thus seeking the intellect that guarantees a conception for the reader to understand
