Female entrepreneurs and the situation of their economic units in the area of Tuxtepec, Oaxaca, Mexico
The main objective was to diagnose the situation the Economic Units (EU) are facing, and whose owners are affiliated with the National Chamber of Commerce, Services and Tourism of Tuxtepec, Oaxaca. The research was exploratory and descriptive with a quantitative approach, analyzing 134 female entrepreneurs and the management systems of their EU. The results show that these female entrepreneurs are, on average, 41 years of age, most of them are married with two children, and they started their business due to financial needs. Besides, most of them have only graduated from high school. In terms of their EUs, on average, they have been operating for 14 years. Most of them are micro-enterprises, with an average of five workers, and they belong to the commercial sector; most of them are also on rented premises and are under the individual entity tax regime. It may be concluded that the main problems faced by female entrepreneurs are that most do not consider it essential to take their competitors into account to establish prices for their products or services, nor do they properly select their sources of supplies or advertise to make their business known. Besides, they do not use information technology for business activities and receive little support and training to invest in their companies
