The Atomic World and Science and Research magazines: Two conflicting views on science

Atomic World was a magazine published between 1950 and 1955 during the presidency of Juan Domingo Perón. It was proposed to create a link between science and the people with the idea that access to S&T knowledge and the country's scientific policy would not remain only in the hands of specialists, but would be open to the rest of society. Science and Research is a magazine published by the Argentine Association for the Progress of Sciences since 1946. It aims to arouse interest in science and stimulate the development of scientific research based on freedom of inquiry. Both magazines proposed scientific dissemination, but with very different views and perspectives. In this article, the characteristics of both journals are analyzed and compared as a reflection of two approaches to national scientific and technological development, which, beyond the historical context in which they were manifested, are still valid today.
