THE IMPORTANCE OF TRANSGENICS FOR AGRICULTURE
The present article makes reference to the possible wide use of transgenic plants in the agriculture to overcome challenges of production and productivity increases, pest and disease control, quality improvement, and production of pharmaceutical products more accessible for consumers, with cheap price and easy to use. It includes a discussion about the obtainment methods and utilization of transgenic plants in several situations and different ecological niches. It also calls attention for the conditions where the exotic genes can be used in plant breeding programs, and is emphatic to the risk assessments in relation to health food and environmental security, before the release for consumption.
