Antropocentrismo débil y sostenimiento del sistema vital biosférico; perspectivas desde la filosofía ambiental

The emergence of environmental philosophy since the middle of the last century is located on the horizon of an unprecedented historical change: the recognition of the vulnerability of the biospherical vital support before the anthropic activity as a whole. At the same time, it coincides with the expansion of the ecosystem perspective and an attempt to overcome the sharp dichotomy “nature-culture”. Nowaday the point of controversy is focused on the idea of development. If the health of the biosphere is a condition of our survival, it is supposed that all development should aim to improve our permanence in it, and of course that of our offspring. Ecophilosophy provides a reconsideration of traditional anthropocentrism, in the form of a weak, prudential anthropocentrism, that could guide us in a preferable way before the challenges of the global environmental problem in the Anthropocene era.
