Description of the productive management of the European wild boar (Sus scrofa L.) under a semi-extensive system in the South of Chile

The aim of the current study was to describe the production of European wild boar on a commercial farm under a semi-extensive system, which is typical of the South of Chile. A case study was conducted on a commercial farm in San José de la Mariquina, Chile. The methodology used to collect data included observations made during visits to the farm at different production stages. The administrator and owners were interviewed and the information was corroborated through observations made at the farm. The farm has been producing European wild boar for more than 12 years on a 3.5 hectare area. The herd currently includes one breeding male and fourteen breeding females.
