Migrations of Tyrannidae species of Argentina: Part 2

We analized migratory patterns of 13 species of austral migratory Tyrannids of southern Argentina, providing information on the dates of departure to the wintering sites and dates of occurrence at the breeding sites in Argentina. We studied its distribution and abundance in different habitats of Argentina using information obtained from net captures, skin samples from Museums, and bibliography. We determined whether they wintered in the Chaco, Pantanal and Amazonia of Brasil, or along the Yungas of South America. We confirm that Pitangus sulphuratus migrates toward Brazil in a northeast direction; Tyrannus melancholicus migrates northward wintering above 18º South latitude, reaching Venezuela and Colombia; Tyrannus savana migrates to Colombia, Venezuela and The Netherlands Antilles, arriving in huge flocks; Pyrocephalus rubinus migrates to Colombia, Peru and Venezuela, although some individuals remain during winter in northern Argentina and Mato Grosso do Sul; Satrapa icterophrys reaches Colombia and Perú although it is par tially migratory, some individuals remaining in the Chaco wetlands during winter; Elaenia spectabilis migrates toward Perú and Colombia from where few records exist; Pseudocolopteryx sclateri is a species that has a wide breeding range in Argentina, and that travels north during the winter although its wintering sites are not very clear nor well known; Myiarchus tuberculifer atriceps winters in Peru and Ecuador; Pseudocolopteryx acutipennis migrates toward Peru, Paraguay, Brazil and Bolivia; Pseudocolopteryx flaviventris migrates to the Chiquitanía of Bolivia and the Pantanal of Brazil and Paraguay where few records exist, it also would be wintering in the north of Argentina; Inezia inornata migrates to Bolivia, Peru, Paraguay and Brazil where it forms mixed flocks; the whole population of Sublegatus modestus brevirostris would be migrating from Argentina toward the north of Bolivia and the Mato Grosso; Camptostoma obsoletum migrates toward Bolivia and the south of Peru, arriving at the breeding sites to Argentina in small flocks during October.
