Observations on Green Macaw (Ara militaris: Psittaciformes: Psittacidae) nesting behavior in Argentina
The Green Macaw (Ara militaris, Linnaeus 1766) comprises three subspecies with a fragmented distribution from Mexico to Argentina. The modification and replacement of its habitats and its capture for pet trade have determined a worrisome state of conservation for this species, considered to be Vulnerable at a global level and Critically Endangered at a national level. In this study, we report the first observations on nesting behavior in the subspecies A. m. boliviana (Reichenow, 1908), in Argentina.
