Small mammals of Monte León National Park, Santa Cruz, Argentine

This work was carried out in the Monte León National Park (PNML), in the province of Santa Cruz, Argentina from the analysis of 48 pellets collected between 2004 and 2005. Seven native species of small mammals were identified. The most abundant species were Reithrodon auritus and Eligmodontia morgani, confirming the presence of the latter for the PNML, a species that had not been validated until this work. Future studies should incorporate other types of sampling in order to broaden the knowledge of small mammals and their trophic relationships with their predators in a protected area in Southern Patagonia.
