Behavior of calcium ions in transcerebral calcic iontophoresis
Compresses wetted in a radioactive calcium solution were placed on the eyelids of guinea pigs and rats. The positive electrode of the iontophoresis device was placed on the same spot. The negative electrode was placed on a compress moistened with destilled water which was attached to the head of the animals. After several thirty minute aplieations the brain was removed and cuttings were made by freezing. Positive results were reached when these cuttings were placed on X-ray plates. This fact shows that the radioactive calcium had passed through the brain.
