Estructura, composición y variación estacional del ensamble de aves en el Parque Urbano Guapilo, Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia: Structure, composition and seasonal variation of the bird assembly in the Guapilo Urban Park, Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia

This study reports the structure, composition and seasonal variation of the birds of the Guapilo Urban Park between spring 2012 and autumn 2018. In the different habitats of the park, a total of 19 025 birds belonging to 208 species were recorded that together with other inventories carried out in the area, a total of 216 species are reached, this represents 15.05% of the birds registered in Bolivia and 17.7% in the department of Santa Cruz. The composition of the assemblage showed a nucleus of few dominant species and a high specific diversity of aquatic birds or associatedwith wetlands. Six species presented the most numerous populations that together represent 47.5% of the total visual records: Dendrocygna bicolor, Dendrocygna viduata,Gallinula galeata, Fulica leucoptera, Bubulcus ibis and Dendrocygna autumnalis. 75% of the species were considered resident, 25.5% migrant and 9.6% accidental. Only 13% of the registered species reproduce in the area and 6% of the species presented juveniles. In migrant species, 39 southern migrants and 14 boreal migrants wereidentified. The Guapilo Urban Park is an area with high biodiversity and has unique characteristics to form a site with high conservation components. The informationobtained in this study will contribute to generating more efficient management guidelines for the conservation of the area, such as avoiding the destruction of vegetation patches, containing the entry of waste into the lagoon, and scheduling cleaning and reforestation actions under an ecological model.
