?Non metalliferous deposits in southwestern edge of Ambato hill and surroundings?. This paper deals about non metalliferous deposits in the southwestern edge of Ambato hill and surroundings. There are limestones related with precambrian-cambrian, pegmatites and quartz bodies associated with granitic rocks of Paleozoic age, claystones and diatomites in tertiary sedimentites. Limestones are suposed to be singenetic metamorphic, quartz bodies had hydrothermal origin. Claystones and diatomites have been developed by clastic and organogenic process respectively. Although many deposits have been mined few decades ago, at the present only one claystones mine is still working.
