Cryogenic geoforms, geological heritage in the Campo de los Alisos Na- tional Park, Tucumán, Argentina: Acta geológica lilloana 22 (1-2): 2010

The record preserved in geological material and in the current landscape is unique and most of it is extremely fragile. Its exploitation and the important climatic variations that occur at a global scale in many cases have a negative effect on its good conservation. A record which is lost can never be recovered, given that it is non-renewable and irretrievable, hence the urgent of the need to understand and protect it. The Campo de los Alisos National Park, Sierra de Aconquija, Tucumán, has a varied geological heritage, offering numerous tourist attractions, natural resources and landscapes not yet used in a sustainable way. We present a preliminary inventory of geological interest sites related to Quaternary cryoforms in the region around the La Ciudacita ruins in order to link this geological heritage with educational aims and economic use. The aim is to increase consciousness about the value of this natural area and the same time the wish to enhance the environmental protection of the geological interest sites.
