geological collection of the Museo de Cienc ias Naturales y Antropológicas Juan Cornelio Moyano, Mendoza (Argen tina): Acta geológica 23 (1-2): 2011
The “Juan Cornelio Moyano” Museum in Mendoza, Argentina, houses the Geology Collection (MCNAM-Ge) containing aninitial core, the “Museum Collection” and the geological material included in the “Tellechea Collection” (MCNAM-Ge T). Both collections remained without museological orga nization during many years until recently when their rescue began by using basic preventive maintenance techniques. In this communication, the characterist ics and conditions of the collections are described. In addition, a list of mineral species of Argentine localities is offered in order to make it known in the scientific community as well a s to encourage its analysis and revision by researchers so as to obtain precise determinations.
