ESTUDIO MORFOLÓGICO DE SEMILLAS DEL GÉNERO CALLIANDRA BENTH. (LEGUMINOSAE-MIMOSOIDEAE) DE VENEZUELA
RESUMENSe realizó la caracterización morfológica de semillas de 18 especies y siete variedadesdel género Calliandra de Venezuela, con la finalidad de establecer similitudes y diferenciasentre especies para su posible utilización como criterio taxonómico. El material se procesóbajo el microscopio estereoscópico. Se encontraron caracteres de valor taxonómico;entre ellos, la presencia/ausencia de pleurograma, la forma, el tamaño y color de la semillafueron los más relevantes. Se describen e ilustran las semillas de cada especie y se presentauna clave para la identificación de las especies usando caracteres de la semilla.ABSTRACTA characterization of the morphology of 18 species and seven varieties of the genusCalliandra from Venezuela was carried out in order to establish similarities and differencesthat could be used as taxonomic characters. The material was processed for study under thestereoscope microscope. The presence or absence of pleurogram as well as shape, size andcolor of the seed were found to be of the greatest taxonomic value. The seeds of each speciesare described and illustrated and a key for the identification of species using seed charactersis presented.
