ADICIONES ALCONOCIMIENTO CITOGENÉTICO DE TITHONIA DIVERSIFOLIA (HEMSL.) A.GRAY(ASTERACEAE)
RESUMENCon el objetivo de corroborar el número cromosómico, tamaño, tipo y viabilidad delpolen y profundizar el estudio de la meiosis en Tithonia diversifolia, se estudiaron meristemasde raíces tratados con colchicina (0,05%) y anteras procedentes de inflorescencias jóvenes,colectadas en diferentes localidades del estado Monagas,Venezuela. Se encontró unnúmero diploide de cromosomas (2n = 34) con 16 pares metacéntricos y un par submetacéntrico.Además, se observaron cromosomas rezagados en metafase I y anafase I y asincroníaen metafase II, y no se visualizaron núcleos espermáticos en 65% de los granos de polen,anomalías que podrían estar asociadas a la baja fertilidad del polen (35%) detectada en estaespecie. Los granos de polen son de tipo triporado y ornamentación muricada, con tamañopromedio de 26,5 mm. La microsporogénesis resultó ser de tipo simultánea.ABSTRACTWith the objective of corroborating the chromosomal number, the pollen size, typeand viability, in a study of the meiosis of Tithonia diversifolia, meristematic root tips treatedwith colchicine (0,05%) and young inflorescence anthers, collected from different localitiesof Monagas State,Venezuela, were studied. A diploid chromosome number (2n = 34) wasfound, with 16 metacentric pairs and one submetacentric pair. Lagging chromosomes in metaphaseI and anaphase I, and asynchrony in metaphase II were observed. Spermatic nucleicould not be seen in 65% of pollen grains. Abnormalities which may be associated with thelow pollen fertility (35%) were detected in this species. Pollen grains were of triporate typeand had muricate sculpture, with an average size of 26.5 mm. The microsporogenesis was ofthe simultaneous type.
