Elaboration of a methodology for environmental evaluation of agricultural systems

With the concepts and the principals of methodologies of evaluation of environmental impact, from the focus of systems and from organization like FAO, BID, a methodology for environmental evaluation was developed of agricultural systems. This methodology includes nine steps, which are: Description of the agricultural production of crops subject to study and specific objetives, agricultural systems analysis, identification of environmental effects and impacts, classification, creation and establishment of effects and impacts, evaluation, tabulation of the matrix of arrangement, graphic representation of the magnitude of environmental impacts and an analysis of the results. The development of these steps allow to locate and evaluate environmental impacts originated in different crop production for the biological, physical and socioeconornical environments. to illustrate its functioning, the environmental evaluation was done, of a representative group system of crop production like soybeans, sorghum and cotton, at a commercial level, located in the north part of the state of Valle del Cauca (Colombia) counting with the cooperation of experts from the agricultural sector, basically professors from the National University Palmira campus.
