Changes on physical properties of an Inceptisol influence of the degraded substrate by Pleurotus ostreatus

To evaluate the effect of the degraded substrate by the mushroom Pleurotus ostreatus (DSP) on some physical properties of an Inceptisol from Buenaventura, Colombia, different doses of DSP (0, 1.25, 2.5, 5, 10, 20, 40 and 80 g.kg-1) were incorporated in 2 mm-sieved soil. The mixtures were placed in pots and planted with maize during four months in a green house until the sampling time. Complete randomized design, with eight treatments, four replications and two depths of sampling was used. The correlation among incorporated DSP quantities and most of evaluated physical properties was significantly high.Compared with the control (0 g.kg-1), the doses of 20, 40 and 80 g.kg-1, significantly reduced soil bulk density. Also, they increase the total porosity, the macro porosity, the soil water retention at low tensions, and organic matter content. A significant decreasing of compaction index and an increasing of the diameter average of water-stable aggregates in doses of 40 and 80 g.kg-1 were observed. The increases of the saturated hydraulic conductivity and the air permeability were not significant respect to the control.
