GEO Juvenil Colombia inició en el primer semestre de 2004 a través de un proceso participativo en el que se convocaron a jóvenes de Colombia de todos los grupos sociales, entre ellos comunidades afro colombianas e indígenas, para crear un informe en el que se ofreciera una actualización de la información existente del estado de los recursos naturales desde una perspectiva juvenil.
