Second Consultative Meeting on the Development of an African Strategy for Ocean Governance - Concept Note

Several decisions of the African Ministerial Conference on the Environment (AMCEN) have called for the development of an African ocean governance strategy as part of the implementation of the 2050 Africa’s Integrated Maritime Strategy. In response, UNEP, as the secretariat for AMCEN, supported the holding of the first consultative meeting in Nairobi from 29 to 30 November 2018. Background studies were carried out to assist member States in developing an African Strategy for Ocean Governance. The purpose of the first consultative meeting was to identify possible elements to be included in the strategy.
