Methanol is a clear, colourless, volatile flammable liquid with a mild alcoholic odour when pure. It is miscible with water and many organic solvents and forms many binary azeotropic mixtures. Methanol occurs naturally in humans, animals and plants. It is a natural constituent in blood, urine, saliva and expired air.
