The meeting was organised in response to the call of the World Summit on Sustainable Development (WSSD) Plan of Implementation for the development of a 10-year framework of Programmes on Sustainable Consumption and Production, in support of national and regional initiatives. The objectives of the meeting were to: contribute to the implementation of the Johannesburg commitments on sustainable consumption and production; recognise the crucial roles of each stakeholder and encourage their commitment to sustainable consumption and production; share information on ongoing activities, identify priority areas as well as potential gaps in policies and tools; identify means for implementing policies and activities.
