La filosofía en la Universidad Católica de Lublin

Abstract: The article presents and characterises the studies in mediaeval philosophy carried out at the Catholic University of Lublin. One of the pioneers of research in history of philosophy at KUL was Bogumil Jasinowski, yet the man to define the character of the work in history of philosophy at KUL was Stefan Swiezawski, one of Poland's foremost mediaevalists and intellectuals. As a follower of Gilson and Maritain he adopted and developed the neo-scholastic method of studying mediaeval philosophy. Another important personality in KUL's mediaeval studies was Marian Kurdzialek, who followed his teacher Aleksander Birkenmajer and focussed his research on the history of science in the middle ages. In its conclusion, the article offers a brief presentation of the research work on mediaeval philosophy carried out at the moment at the Faculty of Philosophy at KUL.
