Safety of transfusing incompatible plasma and emergency issued red blood cells to massively bleeding patients
SUMMARY There is growing appreciation of the importance of using blood products early in the resuscitation of massively bleeding patients (including trauma patients). However, several factors must be considered: intravascular hemolysis after group O RBCs in LTOWB transfusion, hemolysis following the transfusion of incompatible plasma containing blood products or incompatible plasma transfusion.
