A model for understanding the dynamics of rural territory. The case of Argentina

Over the past few decades, rural territories in Latin America and in Argentina in particular have undergone profound changes as a result of production, demographic and social transformations. Changes have been complex and originated a multiplicity of approaches and points of view on the new reality. Giving this increasing complexity, the construction of a model for the interpretation of Argentina’s rural reality is proposed here, which may well contribute too to address other rural realities of Latin America. This conceptual model has been built on the basis of the empirical analysis of numerous case studies in rural territories of Argentina. The model helps to understand the complex processes of rural organization and dynamics, besides constituting itself as a prognosis tool for the definition of public policies promoting new dynamics of rural development in Argentina.
