An attempt was made to determine the potato cyst nematode species, Globodera spp. in a farm of the community of Cerro Punta district of Bugaba, Chiriqui province. It was realized by observations of the chromogenesis, or color changes, of the nematode females feeding on the roots of potato plants, planted in cyst naturally infested soil. Alpha and Red Pontiac varieties were used in this trial. Data indicate the posible existance of more than one lines pathotype of G. tostochiensis and low population levels of G. pallida.
