HAS NO TITLE.

The consumption of rice straw, supplemented with a liquid mixture, its effect on milk production of nine crossed bred cows (3/4 Holstein + 1/4 Zebu) was estudied divided in three groups between the 3rd. and 4th. month of suckling. Also three rations where molasses contributed 25, 55 and 90 per cent of the cow's energetic requirements for maintenance and production. Rice straw represented 83.48, 69.12 and 58.89% of ration consumption/animal/day in treatments A, B and C, respectively. The average milk production/cow/day, was 6.0, 5.4 and 6.6 liters for groups 1, 2 and 3, respectively. Indistinctively of treatment to which animals were submitted. In period 1, group 1, energetic contribution after rations were below the requirements for the milk produced. During period 1 and 4 of group 3, there was an excess of energy. In all cases there was a 28% of protein more than required.
