The Maquila’s regimen and its implications in Mexico: perspectives to the model adopted in Paraguay
In 1960’s an industrial regimen called maquila appeared in Mexico. Through it, US industries settled in the Mexican border to take advantages of the cheap labour and tax incentives, to accomplish the manufacture stage of the products, besides being an easy territory to take the products back into US territory. In this work, through a bibliographical analysis, media and discourse analysis, using the theory of sub-imperialism, it will be described how this process occurred and its impacts on the Mexican economy and society. Subsequently, we seek to compare with the model adopted by Paraguay, including the effects linked to this model in the long term.
