El desconcertante reimpulso de la hegemonía internacional de Estados Unidos

Until 1980, the thesis of a decline in North American hegemony had been generalized. A few years later the opposite idea prevails. Since 1981, the idea of increasing the economic, political, and military strength of the United States has spread. This perception is shared in European countries, Japan, and in Third World nations. This is particularly intense when viewed from Latin America. What factors explain such a sudden and abrupt change in the prevailing situation? Is it a stable or cyclical phenomenon? In this paper, the nature of the factors at play is analyzed and possible trends in the United States economy and international politics are evaluated from a Latin American perspective.
