Palm Oil in the Unilever's Sustainable Plan of Life

The Unilever Sustainable Living Plan is presented, as well as the sources of sustainability and uses of palm oil. Considering that every day a larger number of people use products derived from oil palm, it is necessary to understand how they are used and how they impact the environment. Our vision in Unilever is to grow, but in a sustainable way, steadily reducing the environmental impact. Our goal by 2020 is to double the size of the business, while reducing the environmental impact by half. Every day there is a larger number of people who wish to consume products with responsibility and respect for the environment. For this reason, Unilever is concerned about the brand and quality of these products, always complying with universal standards of sustainable consumption. Avoiding deforestation is not an easy issue and it must done in a responsible manner, generating employment and ensuring not to clear away virgin forests that affect wildlife, in a controlled manner to allow traceability of the oil produced. Additionally, the alliance established in Colombia among Unilever, the palm oil mill Oleoflores, the guild Fedepalma, the Association of Oil Palm Growers, Asogpados, and the Embassy of the Netherlands, to work and establish the first sustainable oil palm chain in Colombia, is addressed. Colombian consumers will be able to buy Unilever products knowing that within its production and processing chain it will contribute to a more sustainable world. We all have a role to play and contribute to society and the environment. Our purpose is to contribute to preserve the planet for many, many more generations.
