SE 15. Evaluation of productivity and accountant profit in broilers in Mexico

Most poultry producers in Mexico evaluate productivity with parameters like feed consumption, conversion, age and average weight at market and production index, all based on productive efficiency (biological). These not necessarily coincide with economic (profit), which is the ultimate goal of the producer. Therefore in the present paper, we suggest the use of an economic index to evaluate the profit (Ingalls-Ortiz Index), that will allow the field veterinarian to evaluate the profit in a given flock in a simple and fast fashion. This index is calculated dividend the total income (kilograms of meat sol multiplied by price) and divided by the total production expenses (historical feed cost in the farm multiplied by a correction factor for other expenses).
