Evaluation of two commercial media used in semen cryopreservation on the motility and viability of reparo bulls.
Jaripeo bulls have become very important nowadays in Mexico because of their cultural value and their genetic material must be preserved. Therefore, the application of reproductive biotechnologies such as semen cryopreservation is a tool used in bovines that allows maintaining the genetic material viable indefinitely. In the present work, two commercial media that have not been tested in jaripeo bulls that do not have a defined breed were used to evaluate the motility and viability of spermatozoa after the cryopreservation process, which allowed comparing both commercial media in a conventional freeze-thaw protocol in reparo bulls. The results obtained show a higher post-thaw viability of the spermatozoa diluted with Triladyl® 58.44% with respect to the AndroMed® medium 47.72%, however, in terms of post-thaw motility of the spermatozoa there was no significant statistical difference between both media.
