The article recounts Carnival 1979 which was propelled by controversy. It was the year of the Panorama boycott after the judge's inaccurate calculations offended the panmen and government's refusal to accept the notion of 'participation incentive' and appearance fee. Black Stalin, who won the Monarch title with 'Caribbean Man' and 'Play One', was accused of being racist.
