Britain’s House of Commons will hold an adjournment debate on the future of the Caribbean’s Banana Industry - Petrie Bowen Wells, known as Bowen Wells- Britain’s Conservative Party politician asked for the discussion in parliament. He told correspondent Fiona McCormick that the debate is also to celebrate the victory for Caribbean bananas in the new European Single Market. Gilbert Bermudez - Association of Costa Rican Banana Producers and Rudi Pfeifer also speaks with correspondent Shada Islam. Eastern Caribbean Private Sector officials are planning a structure for their own organization, it is one of the issues being discussed at their first conference in Dominica. The conference is being chaired by Sheraton Gregoire – VP for the OECS in the Caribbean Association of Industry and Commerce. It was prompted by the fact that the serious economic configuration is changing, and the need to decide a way forward for economic viability – correspondent Mike Jarvis reports. Jamaica’s first one on one political debate took place between Prime Minister PJ Patterson and Opposition Leader Edward Seaga. Social Scientist Brian Meeks gives his analysis on the debate between the two political factions. Ricky Singh- President of the Caribbean Association of Media Workers also gives his journalistic analysis of the effectiveness, delivery, and quality of the live political debate - correspondent Mike Jarvis reports. An appeal was made by Cuba to the world for food, medicine and other emergency aid for 150,000 people left homeless by the devastating storm. The appeal was published by the UN Department of Humanitarian Affairs during a visit to the island by UN disaster officials. The storm has had a severe on impact on Cuba’s economic mainstays of agricultural and tourism – correspondent Mike Jarvis reports.
