Desenvolvimento de Sistemas Agroflorestais com Cafezais no Estado do Espírito Santo: Uma Aproximação a uma Proposta de Transição Agroecológica.
O desmatamento no Estado do Espírito Santo tem origem histórica na prática da agricultura, principalmente com a expansão da monocultura do café. A agricultura familiar é predominante e associada aos sistemas agroflorestais (SAFs), pode ser uma opção para a transição agroecológica nas propriedades com cafezais em busca da sustentabilidade. Para analisar esse cenário, realizou-se uma revisão da literatura sobre SAFs, a observação participante das experiências dos agricultores do norte do Espírito Santo e uma pesquisa sobre um sistema agroflorestal na região. Em geral, os agricultores optam por plantar espécies de uso múltiplo e madeiráveis junto ao cafezal devido à necessidade de ampliar a renda. Desta forma, os SAFs em cafezais com estas características mais simples, têm condições de ser parte de políticas públicas exitosas que favoreçam a disseminação destes sistemas, aumentando a diversidade de espécies no ambiente e melhorando a situação socioeconômica da região. Deforestation in the brasilian State of Espírito Santo has historical background in the practice of agriculture, mainly in coffee monoculture. Family agriculture is predominant, and associated with agroforestry systems may be an option for the transition in properties with agroecological coffee plantations in search of sustainability. To analyze this scenario, a literature review on agroforestry systems, participant observation of the experiences of farmers in northern Espírito Santo and the investigation of agroforestry system in the region were utilized. In general, farmers prefer to plant species of multiple use and timber tree species with coffee cropping due the need to expand income. Thus, the agroforestry plantations with these simple characteristics, are able to be part of successful public policies that promote the spread of these systems, increasing the diversity of species in the environment and improving the socioeconomic condition of the region.
