Amsterdam challenges for circular designs

A lead question for the circular bio-economy is a simple one: how can we accelerate transition, and put our circular ‘dreams’ into practice? And, how to do this within the city context? When redesigning for circularity on a city level, all aspects need to be taken into account, governance, technologies, stakeholders, social behaviours and markets. We need to change together and utilizing the city scale to optimally value our precious resources and finding new ways to use bioresources in the urban environment. ‘By design’ indicates that something is intentional. It does not happen spontaneously, and it cannot be left to its own devises. This process of designing for circularity has been applied within the Amsterdam area, showcasing four city ‘challenges’ as inspiration that it can be done!
