Vermindering emissie van meststoffen met controlled released fertilizers (CRF) in combinatie met recirculatie : implementatie in de praktijk in teelt van potorchideeën (Phalaenopsis)

In the Netherlands, the government and horticultural industry have agreed to lower the emission of nutrients to the environment. Previous research in pot orchid cultivation showed that the use of controlled released fertilizers (CRF) in combination with the reuse of drainwater can lower the emission of nutrients signifi cantly and had no adverse effects on plant growth or disease incidence. In this project this strategy was implemented in practice and growth, nutrient content and emission were monitored and compared with other growers with traditional nutrition. Vegetative growth was in line with the growth at the other growers, fl owering quality was good and tested shelf life was excellent. Emission of nutrients was lowered to almost zero. So it was concluded that the use of CRF in combination with reuse of drainwater can lower the emission of nutrients signifi cantly. The use of CRF with reuse of drainwater is ready for use in practice and contributes signifi cantly to realise an almost zero emission of nutrients.
